The Newhaven Festival of Belonging is a free one-day festival held in conjunction with Artwave and will be located at the Newhaven Fort on the August 27th Bank Holiday 2018.

At the heart of the festival will be a bandstand (pictured above) created by award-winning contemporary artist Morag Myerscough, the bandstand is touring the South East as part of a bigger project with Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft and the Arts Council, and will be part of the Brighton Festival, A Love Supreme and a handful of other events across the region.

We have a full programme of bands, DJs and other musical acts on the bandstand between 12-6 and will be showcasing independent food stalls from across the local area, as well as having a full schedule of art and craft workshops, short films and an exhibition.

Prior to the Festival opening a procession will be gathering in Newhaven Town Centre for 10am, this colourful procession features the Earthquake Drummers, Bonfire Society, Town Crier and the children carrying their bespoke umbrellas and will pass by the RNLI building where Haven Harmonies will sing, and the procession will continue up to The Fort to mark the beginning of the festival.

So come and join us for an event the likes of which the town hasn’t seen before, a colourful and inclusive, community run event packed with music, art, craft and great food.
